Community Health Workers Visited the North Carolina General Assembly
Our Community Health Workers (CHWs) joined a powerful day of advocacy at the North Carolina General Assembly, an event organized by the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association. It was an inspiring moment as CHWs from across the state came together to uplift the voices of our communities and speak directly with legislators’ offices about the urgent needs they witness every day.

Throughout the day, our CHWs emphasized three key priorities:
✅ Training and certification for Community Health Workers (CHWs)
Investing in formal training and certification ensures CHWs are equipped with the tools they need to effectively support families, navigate complex systems, and connect people with vital resources.
✅ Preparedness and response to disasters like Hurricane Helene
Our communities are often the hardest hit by natural disasters. CHWs play a critical role in disaster preparedness and recovery, acting as trusted messengers and connectors when help is most needed.
✅ Importance of Medicaid and other essential services
Medicaid is a lifeline for many of the families we serve. Ensuring its protection, along with other essential health and social services, is vital to the well-being of our communities.
Community Health Workers are more than health advocates — they are pillars of public health, champions of community resilience, and drivers of local economic stability. We are proud of their leadership and honored to stand beside them in the fight for equity and access.
