Durham Fiesta Latina Returns to Central Park for a Day of Culture, Community, and Celebration
The heart of Durham will come alive with the rhythm, flavor, and color of Latino culture at Durham Fiesta Latina on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at Durham Central Park. Presented by the City of Durham Parks and Recreation in partnership with El Centro Hispano, this free, family-friendly event invites the entire community to celebrate Latin American heritage and unity.
Durham Fiesta Latina continues the legacy of the city’s Latino Festival—hosted for 10 years—by bringing together culture, music, food, and community resources in one vibrant celebration.
In addition to live music, folkloric dance, and engaging activities for all ages, this year’s event includes El Centro Hispano’s annual ‘Back to School’ initiative, in partnership with Univision Contigo. Over 300 free school supply kits will be distributed to children in the community, no registration required, but children must be present to receive a kit. Supplies will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while they last.
Festival-goers can also look forward to:
- Live performances by Latino musicians and dancers
- A Latin American food court featuring four food trucks with traditional cuisine, beverages, and desserts
- Local vendors offering handmade crafts, art, and cultural goods
- Children’s activities and family-friendly recreation areas
- El Centro Hispano’s Mobile Health Unit, providing free preventive health services and wellness information
- Information booths from local organizations sharing resources on health, education, and community programs
“Fiesta Latina is a powerful celebration of culture and deep-rooted presence in the Durham community.” said Pilar Rocha-Goldberg, President & CEO of El Centro Hispano. “We’re especially proud to combine this joyful day with our Back to School initiative, ensuring that over 300 children receive the supplies they need to start the school year strong. Events like this not only highlight our traditions but also strengthen families and expand access to essential services that build a healthier, more connected community.”
Wade Walcutt, Director of Durham Parks and Recreation, added, “It is an honor to be able to be part of such an amazing event that celebrates Latino culture right here in Durham. Our diversity and unity are what make Durham great, and we are proud to help bring the community together at Durham Fiesta Latina. We want to thank our partners, El Centro Hispano, for bringing this family-friendly festival to life. Whether you’re dancing to the live music, tasting some Latino cuisine at one of the local food trucks, shopping for some handmade crafts, or grabbing some back-to-school supplies, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Durham Fiesta Latina!”
From traditional food and folkloric music to critical community resources, Durham Fiesta Latina is a joyful expression of culture and connection. Join us on August 3rd at Durham Central Park for a memorable afternoon of celebration.
