Graduation of our Community Health Workers
We are proud to celebrate the graduation of a group of Community Health Workers and independent community health workers who successfully completed the Seamos Honestos program!
After several weeks of learning, reflection, and personal and professional growth, these emerging community leaders completed the Seamos Honestos educational series—an initiative of El Centro Hispano’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Academy, developed in collaboration with Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. The program promotes comprehensive sexual education rooted in respect, health, cultural awareness, and personal values.
This training is officially approved by the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association, providing valuable contact hours for participants as they continue advancing in their careers and strengthening their impact in community health.
📚 Throughout the program, participants engaged in meaningful conversations and learning around key topics, including:
- Introduction to sexuality
- Values, communication, and healthy relationships
- Puberty, anatomy, and overall health
- Protection methods and sexually transmitted infections
- Self-esteem, gender, and sexual identity
Through this training, participants gained tools, confidence, and knowledge to support individuals and families with compassion, accuracy, and cultural humility.
Congratulations to each graduate! Your commitment to education, health, and community empowerment is inspiring. Your leadership will continue to be a guiding light for families across North Carolina, helping build healthier, more informed, and more resilient communities.
We are honored to walk alongside you in this important work
