Fiestas en la Calle Shines at Fayetteville’s International Folk Festival

This past Saturday, the streets of Downtown Fayetteville came alive with music, dance, and joy as more than 25,000 people came together to celebrate Fiestas en la Calle, part of the 47th edition of the International Folk Festival organized by The Arts Council of Fayetteville & Cumberland County.

The event highlighted the richness of Latin American culture while uniting people of all backgrounds, languages, and traditions. Over 20 vendors offered food from across the continents, providing festival-goers with flavors from around the world. The community proudly celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at El Centro Hispano’s Fiestas en la Calle stage, where live bands, traditional dance groups, and cultural displays brought vibrant energy to the day.

“Despite the rain and adjustments in the schedule, Fiestas en la Calle was an outstanding success,” said Pilar Rocha-Goldberg, President & CEO of El Centro Hispano. “What truly made the difference was the energy and commitment of our community, families, volunteers, artists, and sponsors all came together to celebrate our culture and make this event unforgettable.”

El Centro Hispano extends its gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers, staff, and especially to The Arts Council of Fayetteville & Cumberland County, whose partnership made it possible for Fiestas en la Calle to be part of this year’s International Folk Festival.

This celebration not only highlighted the beauty of cultural traditions, but also reinforced the importance of unity and representation. By creating spaces where community voices are celebrated, Fiestas en la Calle continues to strengthen bonds and inspire future generations to take pride in their heritage.
