10 years of CEL!
This year, we proudly celebrate a decade of impact through the Center for Employment & Leadership (CEL)—ten years of connecting dreams with opportunity, workers with resources, and community with empowerment.
Since its founding, CEL has served as a safe and trusted bridge between workers and employers. It has not only promoted access to dignified employment but also nurtured the growth of leadership skills, personal empowerment, and civic participation. At its core, CEL believes that every individual deserves the chance to grow, thrive, and contribute to the community.
To mark this important milestone, we gathered with workers, community leaders, and local officials to honor the journey and reaffirm our shared commitment to economic justice and inclusion.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have been part of this story:
✨ Randee Haven-O’Donnell, Carrboro Town Council member and co-founder of CEL
✨ Vicky Cruz and Rufino Villalvazo, pioneering worker leaders who helped shape the program
✨ Carrboro Mayor Barbara Foushee and members of the Carrboro Town Council for their ongoing support
This celebration was more than just a look back—it was a promise to keep moving forward. Together, we will continue building opportunity with and for our community.
