Education
El Centro Hispano’s Education Department aims to expand educational opportunities and spaces for intellectual growth and personal development of Hispanic/Latino/Latinx community members, from childhood to adulthood.
We focus on school readiness & achievement and adult education
- Increasing school readiness, performance, and achievement for Hispanic/Latino/Latinx children in grades PreK-12 and who access college.
- Increasing basic literacy skills/secondary or high school education and work skills among Hispanics/Latinos/Latinx adults.
- Increasing the capacity of academic institutions, educators, parents, and leaders in education to close achievement gaps, achieve academic success, and promote equitable learning opportunities.
- Increasing the Spanish language proficiency in Spanish and non-Spanish learners.
Adult Programs
COMPUTER
Our lessons cover computer skills such as creating and managing emails, use of documents and spreadsheets, Google suite, the internet, and Zoom.
SPANISH
We offer interactive Spanish classes for beginners to conversational levels, taught by native speakers for both organizations and community members.
HiSET
HiSET classes cover Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Math, to prepare students for the High School Equivalency Test and earn their diploma.
ESL
Our dynamic acquisition classes offer Spanish-speaking adults the opportunity to learn and improve their basic and conversational English skills.

PLAZA COMUNITARIA
At El Centro Hispano’s Plaza Comunitaria, youth and adults can complete literacy, elementary and secondary education with the National Institute for Adult Education (INEA) curriculum from Mexico, which is valid in all Latin American countries.

ADVOCACY IN EARLY EDUCATION
The program is aimed at Latino parents with children ages 0 to 10. The purpose is to identify leaders of the family nucleus through dialogues that reflect issues that affect early education and that are subject to profound changes with the participation in decision-making tables at the state level practicing law, it also provides workshops to polish capacities through educating and making use of tools for early childhood.

FAMILY ACADEMY PROGRAM
The program supports families to understand the school and university system with monthly workshops that offer academic tools for positive impact. This is a program from the Wake County Schools which we collaborate with.

Whether you’re looking to enhance your language skills for travel, work, or personal enrichment, our classes provide a supportive environment with experienced instructors and a curriculum focused on real-world application.
Children Programs

Tutoring Program
Our tutoring program helps strengthen Reading and Math abilities and improves children’s confidence and grades in school.

Summer Camps
Our camps offer children exciting opportunities to explore the world around them through art, music, dance, field trips, and educational and fun activities.

Reading Groups
This program aims at creating habits, skills, techniques, comprehension, and exchange of reading experiences between mother and child in preschool, we help develop a love for books for life.
