“Click Entre Mujeres” Draws a Full House at Fillaree, Inspiring Latina Leadership and Entrepreneurship in Durham.

El Centro Hispano, in collaboration with Fillaree, celebrated the resounding success of “Click Entre Mujeres,” filling the space at Fillaree and creating a powerful evening of inspiration, learning, and community connection during Women’s Month.

The conversation brought together Latina entrepreneurs with diverse journeys: from established business owners operating multiple locations to women who are just beginning their ventures and have discovered in entrepreneurship not only a source of income, but also a way to create flexibility, support their families, and lead within their homes and communities.

Attendees were enriched by authentic stories of resilience, innovation, and sustainability. Many shared that they felt inspired and challenged to pursue their own entrepreneurial paths, generating meaningful and heartfelt dialogue between panelists and participants.

It is important to highlight that some of the participating entrepreneurs are graduates of El Centro Hispano’s programs, where they received training in sewing, embroidery, and other artisanal techniques that now allow them to generate income and strengthen their businesses. Economic development within the community remains one of El Centro Hispano’s key priorities, and initiatives like this reflect that commitment in action.

“The leadership of Latina women is a transformative force in our community. When a woman starts a business, she is not only building economic stability for her family, but also creating opportunities for others and shaping a legacy for future generations,” said Pilar Rocha-Goldberg, President & CEO of El Centro Hispano. “Events like ‘Click Entre Mujeres’ remind us that when we share knowledge and support one another, we multiply our impact.”

Alyssa Cherry, Founder of Fillaree, added: “Hosting this event in Spanish was intentional — entrepreneurship is already challenging, and language shouldn’t be another barrier. We’re grateful to partner with El Centro Hispano to create a space where Latina entrepreneurs can lead, connect, and thrive..”

The event featured eight speakers who shared their stories and experiences:

  • Alyssa Cherry, Founder of Fillaree
  • Carolina Arias, Founder of Descalza
  • Areli Barrera, Founder of Cocoa Cinnamon and Little Waves
  • Miriam López, Creative Entrepreneur
  • Lidia Reyes, Artisan Entrepreneur
  • Mariela Ayala, Creative Entrepreneur
  • Lourdes Gómez, Business Entrepreneur
  • Elizabeth Vélez, Artisan Entrepreneur

Each highlighted how their business models integrate environmentally responsible and sustainable practices while promoting economic growth within the Latino community.

As a continuation of the celebration, on Saturday, March 7 beginning at 10:00 a.m., the entrepreneurs will be back at Fillaree to showcase and sell their products, while sharing their stories directly with the community.

“Click Entre Mujeres” reaffirms El Centro Hispano’s commitment to creating spaces that strengthen women’s leadership, advance sustainable economic development, and celebrate the impact of Latina women in our region.
