Celebrating Growth and Learning Together at “Aprendamos Juntos”
On August 20, we celebrated the closing of “Aprendamos Juntos,” an eight-week program that brought mothers and their children together in a safe, welcoming space where they could learn, play, and grow together.
Throughout the program, families had the opportunity to participate in meaningful activities designed to support children’s development while strengthening parents’ knowledge, skills, and confidence. Through connections with other El Centro Hispano programs and resources, families also gained access to additional opportunities that supported different areas of family well-being.
📖 Reading with El Centro Hispano
Families participated in an interactive parent-child reading routine that encouraged quality time together, strengthened family bonds, and supported the development of early literacy skills. By making reading a shared family experience, parents gained tools to help foster a love of learning at home.
🏫 Engaged Parents
Mothers and fathers learned more about North Carolina’s school system and public transportation, gaining valuable information and practical tools to navigate these systems and better support their families.
🥗 Comprehensive Health
Families received education and resources focused on healthy eating and overall well-being. These lessons helped families explore ways to make healthy choices and build habits that can benefit every member of the household.
💻 Digital Literacy
Participants strengthened their ability to use digital tools and technology to support learning and everyday life. Families also received laptops to help them continue their learning journey beyond the program. In addition, participants had the opportunity to earn a hands-only CPR certification, adding an important skill that can help them respond in an emergency.
Through “Aprendamos Juntos,” families gained more than tools to support children’s development. They gained opportunities to learn together, build confidence, connect with resources, and strengthen their families.
As we celebrated the completion of these eight weeks, we celebrated something even greater: the growth, confidence, connections, and new knowledge our families will carry with them into the future.
We are proud of every mother, father, and child who participated and grateful to everyone who helped make “Aprendamos Juntos” a space where families could learn, connect, and grow—together.
