In partnership, Fiesta Cristiana and El Centro Hispano are inviting all Latinx-Hispanic youth in the Triangle area for a week-intensive immersion. JUVE 2021 is for high schoolers who have at least finished 9th grade and are 18 years or younger. There is a $50 registration cost with scholarship opportunities available.

Through the support of Bryana Clover of 1619consulting.com – a firm facilitating conversations about race and inclusivity without causing harm or overwhelm, JUVE was co-created to “empower Latinx young people for anti-racist leadership” by holding teachings on racial equity and practicing those lessons in our community.

As part of our commitment to our gente, we will examine how Latinx people have been racialized in the US and explore how our particular cultures, identities, and histories of struggle are sources of strength. Further, we will directly address how racism is used as a wedge between Latinos and African Americans and undermines the anti-racism movement. Students will visit NC Central for an in-person tour, visit Greensboro’s The International Civil Rights Center & Museum Tour, The Beloved Community Center, and spend a day at Jordan Lake for a little outdoor fun. All food will be provided.
