El Centro Hispano and Duke University School of Nursing Join Forces for SER Familia Project

We are thrilled to announce that El Centro Hispano has partnered with the Duke University School of Nursing on an exciting new initiative – the SER Familia project! This groundbreaking study is focused on reducing stress and enhancing resilience in Latino immigrant families.

The SER Familia project will bring together the expertise of Duke’s School of Nursing and the trusted community presence of El Centro Hispano to develop and implement strategies designed to support Latino families who are experiencing stress related to immigration, language barriers, and other challenges unique to our community.

As part of this collaboration, El Centro Hispano will train 8 community health workers, equipping them with the tools to implement interventions that aim to foster emotional well-being and strengthen resilience. Trainings for this initiative began at the end of 2024, with the project expected to run through 2029. This long-term commitment will allow us to provide sustained support to our community and make a lasting impact on the mental health and overall well-being of Latino immigrant families.

The SER Familia project is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to address the unique needs of our community, while continuing to build a healthier, more resilient future for Latino families. At El Centro Hispano, we’re passionate about empowering and supporting our community, and this project is another step toward ensuring that our families receive the care, understanding, and resources they deserve.

We want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey and continue to be part of the positive change happening within our community. Together, we can create a brighter, healthier future for all!

Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward with this important work!
