Durham Fiesta Latina in Durham: A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Connection

The vibrant spirit of Latino culture will come alive at the annual Durham Fiesta Latina in Durham, presented by the City of Durham Parks & Recreation in partnership with El Centro Hispano. This family friendly event will take place on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from noon to 4 PM at Durham Central Park.

The Durham Fiesta Latina in Durham is a joyful celebration of the rich and diverse Latino culture. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience authentic cuisine, lively music, folkloric dancing, and engaging activities that are fun for the entire family. In addition to the festivities, the event will also provide valuable information and resources to support the Latino community.Ā

“The Durham Fiesta Latina is more than just a celebration; it’s a testament to the strength and vibrancy of our community,” said Pilar Rocha-Goldberg, President & CEO of El Centro Hispano. “This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our heritage, share our culture with the broader community, and connect individuals with important resources.”

For 15 years, Durham Parks and Recreation hosted an annual Latino Festival. Due to low participation, the city paused hosting the festival in 2019 and reimagined additional ways to serve the Latino community. This newly formed partnership with El Centro Hispano is exciting as it brings a festival centering Latino heritage back to Durham.

Wade Walcutt, Director of the City of Durham Parks & Recreation, echoed this sentiment, stating, “The Durham Fiesta Latina is a highlight of our summer calendar. It showcases the incredible contributions of the Latino community to our city and provides a space for everyone to come together in celebration and solidarity. We are beyond excited to partner with El Centro Hispano to make this event happen.”

Festival-goers can look forward to:

  • Delicious food from local Latino vendors

  • Live performances by Latino musicians and dancers

  • Fun activities and games for children and families

  • Information booths offering resources on health, education, and community services

Join us at Durham Central Park on August 4th for an unforgettable day of cultural celebration and community building. We look forward to celebrating with you!
