Our Bet is on Youth!
El Centro Hispano, through its Young Leaders in Action Program, is sure that its present and future lies in youth, therefore, it carries out periodic efforts focused on the growth, education and empowerment of young people.
On March 8, more than fifty young students from Raleigh learned how to measure blood pressure and visited several Hispanic businesses to become familiar with the health and economic development of the community.
Likewise, from March 4 to 6, the Lideres en Accion group that is part of the Civic and Community Participation Department of El Centro Hispano participated in the UnidosUs Changemakers Summit in Washington DC.
The young people participated in the plenary āBuilding Our Power: The 2024 Elections & Latino Voter Prioritiesā and in the plenary āDon’t turn back: protect and promote DEI and accessibility.ā
They also had the opportunity to participate in the sessions on Workforce Development, Health and Nutrition and the session for young people Navigating the different Career Paths.
During their stay in the country’s capital, the young leaders in action made 4 legislative visits to the Capitol. The young people had the opportunity to present the Young Leaders in Action program to representatives and senators, ask questions about their initiatives and other issues that concern them.
