Toys and Kings Cake Delivered to Local Families
In adherence to our annual tradition, the Three Wise Men visited El Centro Hispano, bringing joy to families by delivering toys and the customary Kings cake. Across our offices, they extended the festive spirit, presenting Kings’ cakes to a total of 80 registered families coming from Raleigh, Durham, and Carrboro. Furthermore, they brought toys to over 183 children in the community through the distribution of gifts.
This celebration of King’s Day, also known as DĆa de Reyes, holds deep cultural significance for the Hispanic community. Commemorating the biblical journey of the Three Wise Men to present gifts to the newborn Jesus, the day fosters a sense of unity, tradition, and the joy of giving. This cherished occasion not only brings families together but also symbolizes the spirit of generosity and community that defines the essence of the holiday season.
Our event would not have been possible without the support and contributions from our partners. We extend our sincere gratitude to El Mandado Bakery, La Castellana Bakery, Poblanita Bakery, Pahuatlan Bakery in Durham, Pahuatlan Bakery in Raleigh, Que Chula Restaurant in Chapel Hill, Dr. Unisex Salon, Mi Escuelita Spanish Immersion Preschool in Chapel Hill, Small Hands Big Hearts, Apex Friendship High School/Paola AcuƱa, Univision, family and friends of Teresita Munoz, the city of Carrboro, and the Ernesto Brown family.
We express our appreciation to the families who registered via social media in December to partake in this festive event. Despite high demand leading to slots being filled within five minutes, we aspire to expand the initiative next year, reaching out to even more families and providing continued support!
