Building Digital Opportunity: El Centro Hispano Joins UnidosUS AI Convening

As technology continues to transform the way we live, work, and connect, it is more important than ever that communities have a voice in shaping the future. That is why El Centro Hispano was honored to participate in the UnidosUS AI & Digital Opportunity Community of Practice Convening in Alexandria, Virginia.

Representing El Centro Hispano were President & CEO Pilar Rocha-Goldberg and Executive Assistant Karen Amaya, who joined nonprofit leaders, policymakers, educators, and technology partners from across the country for a day of meaningful conversations focused on artificial intelligence, workforce development, and digital equity.

The convening explored both the opportunities and challenges that emerging technologies present for our communities. Participants discussed how artificial intelligence is reshaping industries, creating new career pathways, and influencing access to education, employment, healthcare, and public services. Equally important were conversations about ensuring that innovation is inclusive, ethical, and accessible to everyone.

For El Centro Hispano, this experience reinforced the importance of preparing our communities for a rapidly changing digital landscape. Access to technology alone is not enough, we must also ensure that individuals have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to use these tools to improve their lives and expand economic opportunities.

The event also created valuable opportunities to build relationships with organizations and leaders who share a commitment to advancing digital inclusion and creating equitable access to the future of work. These new partnerships and shared ideas will help inform our programs and strengthen our ability to serve Latino families across North Carolina.

We returned inspired by the conversations, energized by the collaborations, and committed to continuing this important work. At El Centro Hispano, we believe our community deserves more than a seat at the table, we deserve to help shape the future. We are dedicated to ensuring that our staff and the families we serve are active participants in the evolving conversation around artificial intelligence and digital opportunity, not simply bystanders.
